I have had Time Warner digital cable for about 4 years. My old DVR box finally broke down (would record the first minute of any program, but no more), so I took it in and swapped it out for a shiny new HD DVR.

My previous box was the Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300, this one is the 8300 HDC. I actually got two boxes, ran my line through a splitter, and installed the second box in my bedroom.

Now, the problem I am having is this: neither box will access any of the On Demand channels. For instance, I have HBO. All the standard HBO channels tune up just fine, as well as HBO HD, but when I turn to HBO On Demand it tells me \"this service is available with your HBO subscription, call (so and so) to subscribe.\" When I tune it to any of the other On Demand channels (Free Movies, Entertainment, Cutting Edge, etc.), it says \"not authorized\" and once again tells me to call Time Warner.

I have tried a hard reboot on both boxes several times, to no avail. I even considered that the problem might be with the splitter somehow, so I disconnected the splitter and connected the cable line directly to the box, and got the exact same result.

I called Time Warner twice and they could not give me any suggestions other than what I had already done. They said they can replace the boxes, but since I am having the same problem with both boxes, I don\'t think the box is the issue. So, they are sending a technician out tomorrow afternoon to take a look. Based on my previous experiences with Time Warner, I don\'t expect this to solve anything, so I thought I\'d see if anyone on here had experienced anything like this or had any suggestions.

Oh, one more thing: my \"start over\" no longer appears as an option on any channel. On Demand and Start Over both worked just fine on my last DVR box. I have a feeling they messed up something in my subscription when I swapped the boxes out, but they say I\'m set up to receive the On Demand channels.
