The only other options for internet are dial-up, wildblue, or limited cell phone providers. Is there a way to get time warner to bring service down? They said they would want $38,000......not fair.  They said there is not enough houses on one side of the road.Anyone know of anything to do?Huh

I\'m in the same boat, but cable only wanted $7000 to bring the cable (probably a 1/2 mile). Their price seems steep...
However, I was lucky to live on a hilltop, and arranged a ISP to put a wireless tower on my property. They service about 16 people with it now, and I get free internet in exchange for the tower site. I\'m sure the tower and fiber link to the tower cost them $10k-$20k
A lot depends on your geography. See if you can find a few others that want internet and approach the cable company again. Look for wireless ISP towers in the area, find who owns them, and talk to them as well. They may expand if they think they will get customers...
Some wireless ISPs can go up to 10 miles with near-line-of-sight gear (about 1-1.5 mbps). Maybe there\'s one close enough for you...
