Ok, So I have time warner and i am paying for the 5 megabyte service. However whenever I test it (through time warner\'s own site)it says it is running at like 2.5-2.6, when I just have it wireless. However When I plug it directly from the modem to my computer I get like 9.3.

So my question is how to make that higher when I am just using wireless, as it is kind of difficult to run a cord all the way across the house. We also have a netgear G router that is plugging up to the XBOX and seems to run fine.

Do I need a new router? The modem is the cable company so I don\'t think that\'s it?

A new router won\'t help much, speed is limited a great deal when using wireless.

That still is a bit low, you can buy two things, either a pro-grade wifi router, or maybe a cheaper wifi antenna for your laptop, they go in the USB, some are better than others. But I get about 10 plugged in as well, and about 5.5-6 on wifi, and my router isn\'t stellar.

You cant.  wired connection is the fastest way to set up a connection.  wireless speed is only going to be a fraction of wired speed and the actually speed depends on the type of wireless connection, i.e. 802.11g, 802.11N

You do not get 2.5 Megabyte from a wireless connection, it is not possible. Wireless N only supports about 100 Megabits if you have a good connection.
