I have Time Warner Cable Internet. Does my modem need to be connected to the Phone Line?

My Cable Modem has a Phone Line, is it required or whats the reason it has the Phone Line connection on it?

It is possible that you have an all in one cable modem that you can also use to provide phone service for an additional cost.  So, the jack would be used to plug in a phone, not to plug into the line.  So, you don\'t need to plug it into anything.
