1. modems, i have a qwest modem. does it have wifi? how do i know? i read somewhere that modems have wifi. under the qwest logo it says "M1000".  does it have wifi?

#2. routers, i have qwest dsl connection. (it's connected to the phone line). can i buy any router i want? or do i have to buy a special router? does qwest provide routers?

Modems don't do wifi.  Wifi requires routing, so what you'll have to do is take the modem and connect it to a router.  You can call quest and ask, but I suspect any router (such as a linksys) would do just fine.

There are devices that are a DSL modem & router combined, which maybe what you were referring to in your first question.
