I cannot access my mail box, why?

Have Qwest Internet dsl connection modem, hardware MS office once previously licensed to someone else, but it was set up for dial-up.. I have my own qwest DSL internet connection,,,why is it being over ridden?  Cannot access my yahoo mail account?
