How do I connect my laptop to the internet?

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 with the wireless card thingy built it.
FYI-i know NOTHING about technology.
We have an EtherFast cable modem for our desktop on our first floor and an Etherfast Cable/DSL router for my brother\'s computer upstairs. How do I connect my laptop to the internet? Can I get wireless internet all over my house?
We have D&P cable for our ISP.
How hard/expensive is it to get a wireless connecter thingy? Can I do it WITHOUT it being wirelessly?

Buy a wireless router.
Go to Besy Buy, Radio Shack, etc. and tell them what you have and what you want to do.
They\'ll fix you right up.
