Same ISP as my cousin but she gets 20,000+Kb/s I get 6,000...Why is this?

we both use cox communications and the High Speed Package only differences i notice is that she uses wireless and mine is wired.
She easily gets 20,000+kb/s on speedtest.. i get 4000-6000 on a good day... how come is my speeds so slow?

she had a new computer could that be it?
Intel Core 2 Duo 2x 2.66GHz
4gb ram
vista 64bit
she runs 2 computers in the house

mine is almost 9 years old
celeron cpu 2.70GHz
760 ram
XP
i run 3, but 1 is actively online the others just sit there..

maybe if upgrade my router could this help, i think the router is pretty low end?


any suggestions on how i can get better speeds?

There is changes to have different speen in internet connection even though you getting same ISP.

option1) Difference plans (which different band width)
option2) Location of your place( how crowed / remote you are if it sharable one)
option3) Your computer configuration( software install or/and hardward config and it's life)
