I have Cox High Speed Internet and I have a Touchstone Cable Modom but today, its been acting weird. All the lights for internet and etc. go out except for telephone 1 and then I reset the modom and everything resets and the internet comes back on but my telephones will not work. They will not connect with the modom to give me telephone service because my phones are also on the Cox plan.

Also, when I try to use the modom as an access point for my psp, I cannot find the code for WEP key. Is it located on the back of the modom because I have heard that that is the case for many routers.

And finally, what is the difference between a modom and a router?

a Router routes the in internet to 1 or more pc's wireless or not. A modem is the gateway or the main entry point for the internet. It if it is just a modem and not a mix between a modem and a router all it does is connect to the isp to get dns or another words ur ip address so u can search the web. Normal ones can route internet but to one pc and in a wired way only.
