why is my xbox 360 xbox live connection so bad?

ok so i got call of duty world at war and everything was perfectly fine the first 4 or 5 days i had it but a few days ago the connection gets interupted constantly it only worked for about an hour last night and the same "connection interupted"

i have a wireless network adapter

and we have charter high speed internet
is there anything i can do to make it better
