Help! My new Lynxis router is not detecting my modem.?

I have a new Lynxis router, and it is not responding to my modem's signal. It states that it can't determine what type it is, I am trying to get wireless internet but it this is becoming more and more of a frustrating ordeal.
I can directley connect with my Modem, but my router won't detect the signal of my ISP. (Btw my ISP is Charter Communications if that helps). Does anyone have any suggestions?
