You can log onto your router, and reset it.
When it comes back online, youll have a new IP.

You can also just unplug it, wait 1 minute and plug it back in.

When you use /release, you are giving up ownership to that ip address on your network.  I believe this will cause the DHCP server (on the router) to allow it to be renewed again.  So the next computer to renew an ip address from the router, it will get the next available IP.  But since you just released, it will likely be the same one.

I don\'t see why you really need to change your internal ip address, but if its necessary, try releasing the IP, and then going to another computer on your network and releasing it as well, and then renew.  Then go back to the first computer and renew, and it should get a different one.

If you are talking about your internet (WAN) ip which is common to all computers on your network, then to get a new ip you can disconnect your modem and reconnect it if its DSL.  However if you have cable, often they will give you the same internet IP.  Cable IP\'s are often quasi-static.
