Try looking at the bottom or back side of the router.

if you havent written it down somewhere safe, (which from personal use i strongly advise) reset your router, this will reset passwords, and, depending on your router, might reset your network key. if not go into your router settings and see if you can reset network key. the computer will only save the password if you tell it to when you first entered the password. hope this helps.

to get your WEP or security key for your router if it did not come in the box or if it is not on the bottom of the router its self then you must do this.

You need to connect to your router to access its settings, this is done by the way of a internet page that opens the settings of your router, since you are not connected by wireless you need to either connect the computer your having problems with by a cable to the router or use a computer that still has a wireless connection.

Once connected to the router by cable or wireless connection on another computer you need to do this.

If windows Xp go to start menu and the RUN on the right hand side of the popup menu,

If Windows Vista go to start menu and type run in the box at the bottom then click on run in the search window.

Once you have opened the run box TYPE cmd and hit enter.

MS-DOS Prompt will open, ( looks like a black box)
now type ipconfig

A list of things will show up, you need to look for
Default Gateway..................................: ( some numbers here)
Right these numbers down with dots included, thus looking somthing like this 192.168.11.1

once you have this number you need to open up your web browser e.g internet explorer and type in the address bar

http://the numbers here              e.g http://192.168.11.1

and hit enter

this will bring up a password screen for your router, have a look in your manual for this.

once logged into the router, there will be loads of settings, look for security and then WEP key.
your sercurity code should be there some where,

Cheers

Scoops

If you do not know/or want to verify the passkey to your wireless network, you can download/install this freeware program and it can tell you or confirm your wireless security encrypted password key.

It is safe and highly rated. You also have to use it on one of your computers/laptops that has already been used inside your wireless network.

Seriously, this really works and is safe.
