How to Forward Emails and Easiest Way to Change My Address?

I am changing service providers from bellsouth dsl to fast access cable and will lose my email address associated with that account. What is the best way to make this transition so that I continue to get my emails?
Is email forwarding the best approach? If so, which service is best.
Also, what is the easiest way to transfer my contacts in my address book?

i know that hotmail has an option that you can automatically forward all incoming emails to another email account. maybe yours has this otion too. the easiest way to transfer your contacts is to export them into a file and then import them to your new account

1) Get a free email account - Hotmail or anything else. From now on, have your emails sent to that account. Have everything forwarded to your real account.
2) With most email programs you can change the servers without changing anything else - like the address book.
3) Check with bellsouth BEFORE you close the account, to see if they can hard-forward your emails for 30 days or so after you close the account.
4) The best approach is #1, but for now just notify everyone who sends you email at bellsouth that your new email address is
.
